The Sinus Lamp was originally designed in 1967, when attempts were made to produce it in plastic. But Piet Hein was dissatisfied with the result until he saw it in glass. The floating forms of the Sinus Lamp are the epitome of clean, Scandinavian lines, which are familiar to us from the Golden Age of Danish Design and its leading figures, who included Verner Panton, Arne Jacobsen, Børge Mogensen and Hans Wegner.
The sine wave was the inspiration for the pendant because it is a mathematically harmonious form, but also because it represents an ideal in terms of lighting technology. The curved forms of the lamp ensure that the light is bright precisely where it is needed, but not dazzling in the direction of the eye.
This pendant is designed to take a low voltage halogen light bulb, which is not included.
